If your tastes lean more towards arcade, definitely try before buying. I enjoyed playing TGC when I felt like leaning towards the sim route. If you're not on Xbox One, I'd skip the first one, and pick up the TGC 2 or 2019, depending on the price. The Golf Club 2019 (the most recent one) is also part of this month's Games With Gold, starting on May 16. If you have an Xbox One and Game Pass, The Golf Club 2 is available to try out. The TGC community has created/recreated many real-life courses, and ones for cheesing achievements/trophies. TGC comes with a full-fledged course creator, so there's no shortage of content. Though the latest incarnation sports the PGA Tour license, TGC is an indie-developed title, and doesn't have the budget, bells, and whistles of the old EA Tiger Woods games. They're very challenging golf simulations and not at all golf arcade-style games there are no power-ups, changing your shots in mid-air, improving stats to get better, etc. The Golf Club games are realistic, skill-based golf games.
